Dating? Increase Your Compatibility Thru Meditation!
Hello World, and Haaaaaaappy Meditation Monday!
So, although I'm nolonger in the dating world because I'm married (5 years), I could still use a few dating pointers to keep things fresh! In the case of applying meditation to dating, the objective of this meditation practice is to get outside of your emotional thoughts and expectations. When one is dating, they usually have a goal or purposeful intentions. Whether it be to gain emotional support, companionship, or sexual engagement, we often dive head first into new relationship endeavors with deeply rooted, preset expectations. This....is a no no! It only sets us up for failure!
If you're married or already in a committed relationship, you could use this practice to open up understanding of your partners point of view. Maybe you guys disagree about something, or maybe they want you to empathize with one of their actions. You could meditate objectively; on the matter at hand, and extract your own opinion and feelings from the equation. This will allow you to see things solely from their perspective, and might allow room for forgiveness or understanding.
I know for women, we could watch a sappy love story at the wrong time of the month, and then fall in love with the concept of true love! We internalize the acted out emotions of the female lead and then program ourselves to try and go after that very same story of enchantment.... This is a major fail! For one, movies and TV shows are scripted, so they're insanely perfect, with two ridiculously perfect people. That is just as bad as pairing your expectations with previous experiences. You can't go into a new relationship or dating encounter with an old script. It's improv people, you make it up along the way! 😎
You can also use meditation in dating to focus you. If you're not a person who genuinely enjoys hanging out with perfect strangers, while trying to gage compatability, you probably want to figure things out as quickly as possible. So meditate on keywords, phrases, and questions, that are important to you. By making your minds' mind more cognitive of these goals, you will be more sensitive to the phrases and comments that lead into these topics. This will enable you to navigate your conversations more purposefully, and you will gain deeper, genuine insight into that persons' truth.
As always, I like to link an acrticle that backs my meditation perspectives, so check out the link and further your enlightenment on meditation and dating! 😘
