Reintroducing- Air Talley

Air Talley, born Jonathan Matthew Talley, is first a man of God. Secondly, the proud husband of Je’Don Holloway-Talley, and father of 4 year old son, KaCen Matthew Talley. Lastly, he is The Monster- Air Talley! And in that order. After a two year hiatus from the game, in 2015 Air Talley (ex member & founder of 'Klub Monster') is now solo & free to explore music from his own perspective.

Here are a few Q & A’s with Air Talley!

L.C.P.:  What does the name “Air Talley” stand for? When I first learned of your stage name; I thought it was rather emblematic of the sports world. What meaning do you want the people to associate with Air Talley?

Air Talley: I would like for the people to symbolize the “Air” with being out of this world. In the 80’s when the people associated “Air” with Jordan, the reason was because his talent was out of this world. His jump shots were so high that it looked like he was flying. He was the very best. His image was refreshing to young black men, he was innovative to an entire culture. His on screen & on court demeanor was very charismatic and entertaining. Never a dull moment when MJ was in the game; and that's how I feel about myself when I’m onstage. No matter how cold or stiff a crowd can start out to be, once I hit with the Air Talley magic, they’re captivated (he laughs boyishly) and they’re rocking with me. I’m a very confident man, and the esteem I have about my stage & mic presence is above average & beyond anything anyone else is doing. Am I saying I’m the very best lyricist...???? Well...what I'm saying is… I’m one of the most confident, charismatic, entertaining, brute MC’s on the rising scene. And the reason I’m so comfortable saying that is because, that is my opinion. You don’t have to agree or believe me, but you won’t be able to deny that I’m damn convincing!

L.C.P.: What can we expect from your upcoming EP?

Air Talley: A refreshingly unorthodox approach to this art we call hip hop. A sometimes narcissistic, truth baring, heart wrenching album of realness. In my music I don’t talk about things that don’t exist in my world. I talk about my struggles, what I’m trying to do in this rap game, and in life. I have a deep relationship with God & he’s apart of me, apart of who I am. It's nothing for me to twist up a rhyme about the Lord in a song, and and make it HOT! Now that I'm solo, I have creative freedom and control to do so. I want to make dark music; with a light purpose. The beat I'm beast-ing may sound sinister or hard rockish but the message will be refreshing.

L.C.P.: When did you know you wanted to become a rapper, and who inspired you?

Air Talley: I’ve always been a huge fan of rap because of my older bro Kriss. In 1992 when Kris Kross came out, they showed me that kids can rap too, and Another Bad Creation as well. They were all kids and teens, rapping. Da Brat, she was one of the lst  female MC’s I paid attention to. I was only 8 & in 92, so my exposure to music was limited to my brothers taste. I became obsessed with rap by the time i was 10, I loved that west coast Snoop Dogg & Dr.DRE. Then in 1996, I fell in love with Master P.  'Mister ice cream man' was the 1st cassette tape that I bought with my own money. I loved how different each rappers' style was, depending on where they were from. South music was totally different from West coast music  & East coast music was different from the others. Biggie Smalls was dope, Wu Tang Clan, Nas, Jay z, too many to name! I could go all day on a list of my favorite rappers. All genres, I loved Metallica, red hot chili peppers, Blink 182, Nirvana. When I get ready to perform, I like to listen to Anita Baker she soothes me. I love all music...music is art. Period. But to answer your question, I decided that I had to become a rapper when I was 8 years old. Kris Kross & Another Bad Creation inspired that. But I started actively pursuing music when I was 19.

L.C.P.: Thank you AirTalley for that candid interview. It was a pleasure to get to know the man behind the name

Air Talley: No problem, anytime baby.

My husband is flirting with me, on the job! LoL'z
