LIFE: THE LESSON IN THE STRUGGLE..
By Aaron Ace Boogie Smith
What's Up LCP, #AceBoogie here, with a weekly word!
If you are like me then it is highly likely that in between the daily grind, or whenever you have a second of downtime, you surf the Internet and social media. Now, If you really took the time to calculate all of the time you invest in web browsing, and drooling over other people's lifestyles, I'm sure you would be quite impressed/disgusted at the count..
However shining light on this particular issue is not my aim. I'd rather focus today on the deeper issue.... Have you ever noticed how everyone seems to be living "The Life" and sharing all the high-points in their lives? This may be why we read, and why we watch; IT GIVES US AN ESCAPE! Even if for only a second we are able to take our minds off the reality of our own lives, and look at how the "rest" of the world is doing, it is a temporary relief. There has been no other time in history that the world has so easily been connected and at our fingertips, like the present. However, the unfortunate side of it is that it isn't long before you find yourself COMPARING how you stack up, to everyone else.
This mental trap is especially dangerous for the ambitious....think about it. My career isn't like that.... I don't have a house yet....My car doesn't look like his...Her waist trainer worked better than mine.....her man looks better than mine. Some may even go as far as fabricating grandeur all in an effort to give the illusion that everything is just fine.
I am by no means judging anyone, because we all want to shine. We work too damn hard not to! Consider this...rather than IGNORE "the struggle", we should EMBRACE "the struggle" as the "struggles" are our INDIVIDUAL journeys.. Don't you think? We can't compare our lives to those of others, because we are too unique to have the same stories.. #NoCarbonCopies!
I'd like us to consider the mental effects comparison can have on us. It can subconsciously cause us to feel depressed or down on ourselves because our lives might not be where we imagined them to be. We all have highs and lows in life but instead of brushing over the struggle and rushing to get past it, I want to point something out...
EVERY GREAT PERSON has to endure a GREATER struggle.
Notice I didn't say FAMOUS person ie: Paris Hilton or one of these Love and Hip Hop reality chics. I said "GREAT".... Besides ummm what are they famous for again? Let me stop because I don't know these people personally so I digress...... Great people overcame struggle at some point in their lives and that struggle in some way, helped to mold them into who they became. I personally have experienced that there is ALWAYS a lesson in the struggle. Unfortunately everyone does not have the vision to see this at first.
The stuggle is what shapes us and molds us. It is similar to a sword that must be forged in extreme heat. If the metal does not weaken it cannot be hammered into shape. This is a painstaking process but is all necessary before a sword is ready for battle. Our lives are no different. We must endure the heat of daily trials and the hammer thru the setbacks in order to be molded into someone that can handle living, and walking at the heights that we all wish to achieve.
We are all on a personal journey in life but dreamers have a more difficult road to endure, because in order to have a life that isn't status quo, you must be able to endure the letdowns, setbacks, and disappointments that come with reaching for the stars!
Everyone wants the life but everyone isn't ready to put in the work. I just want to pass this word to someone reading this, who may be STRIVING for MORE and PUSHING against the mold.
Somewhere along the way I learned that the quickest way to make it through a test is to SEEK the LESSON instead of the DWELLING on the SITUATION. This is a tough trait to acquire, but the results speak for themselves..... Be ENCOURAGED and STAY with it LCP, because if it were easy everyone would do it. Strive for greatness and embrace the adversity that comes with it because there is a lesson in the struggle.
Why do you think people feed pigeons but shoot at eagles? Food for thought...it's ok to be status Quo but when you get a little regal people try to bring you down. Anyone having a struggle you are dealing with now? Ask yourself, what is the lesson to be learned from it? Is this drama self inflicted? If so was it worth it? What did you learn after your struggle? Is this struggle bigger than your desire to change your situation?
When you make it past your challenge I'm guessing it didn't kill you, so are you a stronger person now? A scar whether physical or emotional is nothing more that a reminder of what you survived let's keep moving! ......
