I am deeply grateful to have a platform to display my gratitude for the honorable Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. On today. Last night I had the privilege of seeing 'Selma', the latest and greatest depiction of the legendary Civil Rights Movement; The March across Selma's Edmund Pettus Bridge. Waiting on the other side of the bridge would be an open path to Montgomery; Alabama's Capital. MLK intended to protest in front of the States Capital building, but unfortunately his plan did not go as he'd hoped.
It took three attempts to complete the march to Montgomery. The first attempt across the bridge was made without Dr. King in attendance. With so many threats on his life, his clergy of fellow SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference) founders convinced him to stay home with his family. The 2nd attempt however, Dr. King was present for, but after kneeling before God and the angry faces of the police force; he turned around and led the people back to Selma. He felt that they would have walked into a trap, so he decided to retreat and wait until after their court appeal for clearance.
