Got a craving for some good old fashioned southern cuisine? Look no further than Birmingham's very own; Apple Dumpling Bar!
One of the perks of being a blogger is personal invitations from local business owners, to try out their products, foods, or services. I was summoned by none other than Ms. Mary Collins herself, to come on down to Palisades, Homewood to check out her cute new diner! :)
I brought my husband along with me to "taste test" the delicacies of southern tradition for two reasons... #1. It made for a great lunch date! :) (lol) and #2. Because he's a picky eater! I on the other hand; am a lover of ALL food's, and can appreciate most any meal. So the real test would be, how well Mr. Talley took to the beautifully prepared dishes we were served. Let's just say...that the Apple Dumpling Bar passed the "taste test" with flying colors!
Her dishes were picture perfect and garnished with elegance, and we had the pleasure of sampling a full course meal. Her signature "Southern Fried Green Tomatoes", "Golden brown Fried Chicken Wings", "Down home Collard Greens", "Cajun style Shrimp & Grits" and delicious cake slices for dessert! #Yuuummmmm!
These dishes were seasoned to perfection, and were delightful treats to our taste buds. I can honestly say that I can't choose a favorite between the dishes, but if I had to.... I'd have to go with the Cajun shrimp and grits! :) The atmosphere at the Apple Dumpling Bar is very family friendly, with down home southern charm. The staff was hospitable, and the diner was very clean and spacious. Whether you're looking for a family oriented restaurant to fellowship at after a great Sunday church service, or a friendly place to take the family to after a long days work, the Apple Dumpling Bar is your place!
Be sure to support your local businesses, and stop on by the Apple Dumpling Bar. You won't regret it! :)
